Tai Hang (4,000 sq.ft duplex + roof garden)

Brief

The owner wished to best utilize the available space of the apartment while enhancing the stunning views and refreshing the interior design.

Challenge

A staircase in the central living room blocked the views, and took up a large amount of available space. Small windows also limited the view and available light. The apartment had to be re-planned with a significant amount of structural and architectural changes in terms of space and functionality.

Solution

The impeding staircase was relocated, and given a glass railing to increase the feeling of spaciousness. Windows were made full height to increase natural light and provide full panoramic views. The bedrooms were re-done to full-sized suites and a study was added. Finally, the interior design took a predominantly white, contemporary European aesthetic to brighten the space and refresh the interior design. In the end, the renovation work increased the usable space by more than 30%.
